On Tuesday Night the Boys Basketball team traveled to Grand Prairie to face a very tough Gopher basketball team. With only 5 games left in the district season each game has playoff implications. The team got off to a slow start in the first quarter as they traded baskets with the Gophers, as sophomore Jordan Roberts gave the Warriors some life on the offensive end with some fast break buckets. Then came the second quarter and they never looked back. Stretching their lead to as much as 10 with gritty defense and precise execution on the offensive end, led by Christian Turner’s 12 points the Warriors took a lead into halftime. As the second half started the Warriors went to their inside game right away with Turner getting some great looks picking up right where he left off. With Turner being sidelined with some foul trouble, senior point guard Karlyn Kenner simply took the game over. Going on a tear Kenner looked unstoppable scoring 21 ,of his game high 23, in the second half and propelling the play of his teammates down the stretch. Sophomore Jaden Flournoy finished well around the rim off of some excellent ball movement and Junior guard Jalen Griffin chipped in with 9 points, making some big money balls from behind the arc. With gritty defense and beautiful team basketball the Warriors pulled away and proved to be too much for the Gophers, getting a tough road win 71-57!! Kenner with a game high 23, Turner 21, Griffin 9, Roberts 6, Jaden Flournoy 6. The Boys will be back on the court Friday at home vs a very good Summit team. The game will again have huge playoff implications. The boys currently sit in the 4th spot and with a win Friday night could position themselves to possibly be in 2nd. Warrior Nation please come out this Friday night and pack the gym!!! Game time 730, Let’s Get loud!!!!!!!!
